How To Make Cheese

Making cheese is an art and you also can be good at this art.  In order to make cheese you must have the main ingredient milk. For about one gallon of milk, you should have half a cup of vinegar and one tea spoon of salt.  These are the only three ingredients required to make cheese and nothing more.

Once you are ready with the ingredients you can start the process.  First start heating the milk at a hundred and ninety degree Fahrenheit, if you have a thermometer then, you measure the Fahrenheit or otherwise just put off the stove once the milk starts boiling.  Now add half a cup of vinegar and mix well.  Allow the mixture to cool.

When the mixture is completely cool, slowly pour it into a colander so that the whey is drained off completely.  Now take the thick curd that settles on the colander and add some salt to it and mix.  Amount of salt depends on your taste.  To further relish the savor of your cheese you can add some cream to it.  Now your cheese is ready.

The taste of your cheese also depends on the milk you use.  You can use both pasteurized and unpasteurized milk.  But if you are using unpasteurized milk, then you need to add some calcium chloride to it, so that it firms the curd for you.  Another important tip to make good cheese is that choose the milk which has a lot of butterfat in it.  Butterfat, adds richness to your cheese.  Approximately you will get 1 to 1.5 pounds of cheese per gallon of milk.
